Metadata is a clue
A camera model, timestamp, author or GPS value can be missing, wrong or deliberately edited. A file with no supported metadata is not automatically anonymous, unedited or safe.
Content Credentials are not a truth verdict
Verified credentials show that specific signed data validated. They do not independently prove that a scene occurred. Missing credentials are neutral, and an untrusted signer is not the same as an invalid signature.
Browser and format differences
JPEG, PNG and WebP receive the strongest support. HEIC and AVIF metadata parsing varies by file structure and library support. Very large, damaged or adversarial files are rejected intentionally.
