Three systems, overlapping jobs
EXIF is closely associated with camera capture. IPTC fields are widely used for captions, credits and publishing workflows. Adobe’s XMP framework can serialize many namespaces and preserve editing history or rights data.

Why a viewer groups fields
Users usually want an answer—location, device, author or software—not a standards lesson. Grouping normalized values by meaning makes the result useful while still offering the underlying namespace and tag.
Use the namespace when precision matters
A displayed “creator” value may originate from IPTC, XMP or a mapped field written into more than one location. Editing software often synchronizes related values, but conflicts can still occur. The raw namespace tells you which copy you are reading.
For everyday privacy work, the normalized meaning is usually more useful. For publishing, archives or disputes, retain the original tag path and record conflicts rather than silently choosing one value.

What our nine-field check found
Camera model, ISO and original capture time naturally grouped as capture evidence. Headline, credit and caption served editorial use. XMP creator, rights and history crossed rights and software groups because XMP is a framework rather than one fixed editorial vocabulary.
The table is a controlled taxonomy check, not a survey of every field. Each standard contains far more tags, vendor extensions and mapping rules. The interface keeps the common answer short and lets specialists inspect the full field path.
Choose what to preserve
Removing all metadata may protect privacy but can also discard a photographer’s credit, usage terms or carefully written caption. Before cleaning, decide whether the destination needs rights information and whether the file is an archival master or a public derivative.
For a public copy, remove precise location and persistent identifiers first. If retaining copyright or credit, verify those fields after cleaning. The safest workflow keeps the unmodified master and produces a purpose-specific derivative.
What this does not prove
A metadata result describes the fields and structures that the supported parser could read. It does not, by itself, prove authenticity, intent, authorship or the truth of the visible scene.
